This compound lies atop a large, prominent mesa overlooking the expansive grasslands, noth of Capital City. This offers a natural high point for transmission, clear sightlines for defense, and sufficient distance from major population centers to prevent easy civilian access. This Imperial Communications Center is located on a flat-topped mesa known as Black Spire Mesa by the locals. This mesa is one of a cluster of similar rock formations, but its plateau is uniquely flat and expansive, making it ideal for construction.
It is commanded by an Imperial Lieutenant, who is a communications specialist first and a soldier second. He is responsible for the station's operational readiness and reports directly to Commandant Kael. Several comms officers, drawn from the ranks of the Imperial Army, manage the communications equipment, monitor broadcasts, and handle encryption. They are all trained in basic combat and carry sidearms. One or two maintenance specialists are on-site to handle repairs and maintenance on the complex equipment.
A permanent garrison of two dozen stormtroopers, are assigned to the station. Their primary duty is to patrol the perimeter and guard the main building, providing a reliable military presence to deter attackers.
In addition to the tower itself, the station has advanced Imperial communications gear, including encrypted receivers and jamming equipment. This allows the Empire to censor civilian broadcasts while maintaining secure internal transmissions. Two K79-S80 Troop Transports are on-site for transporting personnel and as a backup transport. A half dozen scout trooper-level speeder bikes are used for rapid-response perimeter patrols or pursuing escapees. While the station doesn't have its own air wing, it has a clear landing pad, allowing for emergency shuttle landings and resupply via larger transport vessels.
