Phase One
A few months after the rise of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, the remote Outer Rim planet of Veridian celebrates. Devastated by a plague and economic collapse during the Clone Wars, the Veridian government had appealed to the Republic for aid, only to be repeatedly ignored. Now, the new Empire has answered, offering a relief package and promising an economic renaissance through industrial investment. The initial mood on Veridian is hopeful, almost celebratory. After years of isolation and hardship, the populace views the Empire as a savior, a bringer of prosperity. But this campaign will explore the gradual, sinister shift from hopeful alliance to suffocating occupation, proving that even a gilded cage is still a prison.
Governing Imperial Officers:
• Governor Finis Dystra
• Commandant Valen Kael
• Colonel Hektor Cassian
The Initial Imperial Rescue:
At first, the Imperial presence is a measured and seemingly benevolent one. The initial fleet is not one of overwhelming force, but of efficiency and control. The capital ships deployed are not the massive Imperial-class Star Destroyers, which are still in early production, but rather a more functional, pragmatic force. The initial complement includes:
• Arquitens-class Command Cruiser: The backbone of the early Imperial fleet, this ship serves as the command and control vessel at Veridian, coordinating the occupation and showcasing the new regime's power with their sleek, intimidating profiles.
• A Handful of Gozanti-class Cruisers: Used as troop and cargo transports, these ships bring in the first waves of Imperial personnel and, more importantly, the vast amounts of construction equipment and modular housing needed for the new factories and mining operations.
• A Dozen of IPV-1 System Patrol Craft: These smaller, nimbler vessels patrol Veridian's orbit and monitor inbound and outbound traffic, a minor inconvenience at first, but a sign of the tightening grip to come.
• A Standard Imperial Garrison: It consists of a company of Imperial Army Troopers and a company of Stormtroopers in Capital City, primarily focused on guarding official buildings and key infrastructure, they would have a small percentage of Imperial Clone Troopers still in service as well..
• Tie Fighters: A squadron of Tie Fighters (12) would initially be based at Capital City's spaceport and a new, smaller Imperial airfield in the countryside would contain half that many Tie's.
• Equipment: Ground equipment would consist of the following. "Approximately" a dozen All Terrain Tactical Enforcers (AT-TE) which were leftover from the Clone Wars, two dozen All Terrain Recon Transport (AT-RT), a half-dozen TX-130 Tank, a half dozen Imperial patrol transport, a dozen K79-S80 Imperial Troop Transport and a dozen All Terrain Defense Pod (AT-DP).
Initial conditions on Veridian are a mix of relief and change. Imperial propaganda, broadcast over the newly established HoloNet, floods public spaces with promises of a bright, ordered future. In Capital City, gleaming new Imperial buildings begin to replace older, Republic-era structures. A handful of Imperial stormtroopers—initially mostly Clones still transitioning into the new army—are seen on patrol, appearing more as a peacekeeping force than an occupying one. New jobs are created in the nascent Imperial mining and manufacturing facilities, providing much-needed income for the struggling population.
Minor acts of vandalism or sabotage would be met with increased patrols and warnings. When any successful disruption of any a Imperial convoy or factory, it will elevate the status of the sabatuer from petty criminals to active "insurgents".
